SOAR and SIM Integration

The SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) model increases access to the disability income benefit programs administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) for eligible adults and children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have a serious mental illness (SMI), medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.

The Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) details how individuals with behavioral health conditions interact with the legal system. SOAR providers can use the SIM to divert individuals from the legal system and plan successful reentry.
